About the Diary
An English-language YouTube channel about Europe's economy, told with data and dry British humour. Episodes, source dossiers and a free weekly puzzle ration.
How we work
- Every figure comes from a named source, preferably official statistics.
- Each episode gets a written dossier with the numbers, the sources and the strongest counter-argument.
- Personal stories and Reddit posts are labelled as anecdotes, never as statistics, and are anonymised.
- Satire is satire. The numbers are not.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, write to hello@thediaryofaeuropoor.com. We correct the dossier, note the correction, and pin it under the video.
Frequently asked questions
What is The Diary of a Europoor?
An English-language YouTube channel and website that explains Europe's economy with data and dry British humour: energy prices, housing, productivity, taxes, bureaucracy and the growing gap with the United States.
How do you check your facts?
Every number in an episode comes from a named source: official statistics (Eurostat, national statistics offices, central banks, the IMF, the OECD) or reputable reporting. Each episode has a public dossier on this site listing the figures and their sources.
Do you show the other side?
Yes. Every episode contains an "In fairness" section with the strongest counter-argument, and the dossier repeats it in writing.
What is The Weekly Ration?
A free set of printable puzzles published every Monday: a British-style crossword with one answer taken from our episodes, a sudoku and a kakuro, with solutions. They fit on one A4 page.
Is the newsletter free?
Yes. The Monday Ration newsletter is free, uses double opt-in and has a one-click unsubscribe.
How can a brand sponsor the channel?
Sponsors can book an integrated read in an episode, sponsor the weekly puzzle sheets, or become a founding partner. Write to partners@thediaryofaeuropoor.com.
Who makes it?
The channel is created by František Mlčůch, based in the Czech Republic. Illustrations are original and AI-assisted, and the narration is AI-generated.
